Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for the MK2 Crew Lander. You will lead the design of crew systems, create and manage CAD models, 2D drawings, and MB.D files, and work with manufacturing to ensure producibility.

This role also involves mentoring junior engineers and reviewing drafts across the team. You will help develop the MK2 Crew Lander to support human spaceflight, collaborating with Structures, Thermal, and ECLS teams to optimize designs and processes for

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related technical field.
• 8+ years of experience in design and development of mechanical/structural/fluids systems.
• Proficient in 3D CAD (CREO/Windchill).
• Expertise in 2D drawings and MB.D for components and assemblies.
• Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop and design secondary structure and fluid panel assemblies with Responsible Engineer.
• Create and maintain 3D models, drawings, assemblies, and interface documents.
• Define GD&T schemes and collaborate with manufacturing to iterate build plans.
• Support configuration development and trade studies with stakeholders across teams.
• Provide drafting reviews and establish CAD/drawing standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive CAD/process improvements.
• Identify safety, mass, and cost reduction opportunities.
