Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to design and own fluid system components for the MK2 Crew Lander. You will create CAD models, drive design for manufacturability, specify fittings, and coordinate with suppliers through the full lifecycle from concept to operation.

The role requires Creo proficiency, hands-on structural analysis, and an ability to work across engineering disciplines. U.S.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience designing hypergolic and/or helium system tubes and fluid components.
• Experience generating 3D models and drawings in Creo for complex fluid hardware.
• Experience specifying fluid fittings and mounts.
• Experience performing the structural hand calculations and analysis with tools such as ANSYS.
• Experience interpreting P&IDs.
• Expertise in ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
• Experience with static and non-linear FEA analysis (ANSYS).
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Responsibilities

• Generating CAD models for hypergolic and/or helium fluid system hardware.
• Generating model based design for engineering artifact release.
• Leading design for manufacturability efforts for fluid component assemblies. Work with supply chain to procure hardware and manage vendor deliverables.
• Define and implement supporting hardware such as heaters, instrumentation, mounts, and valves.
• Performing basic structural analysis on fluid system hardware.
