Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer Level 4 to join our Launcher Hardware team. You will develop designs, create solid models, and collaborate with stakeholders to meet technical, schedule, and cost requirements for Navy launcher platforms.

Qualifications include a STEM degree with 8+ years of experience (MS 6, PhD 3), machine design and drawing experience, CAD proficiency (NX/CREO/SolidWorks), and the ability to obtain a US Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline with 8 years relevant work experience; or Master’s Degree with 6 years; or PhD with 3 years.
• Experience in machine design and drawing generation.
• Ability to plan tasks and execute to the established schedule.
• US citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance.
• Must be onsite 4 days a week; remote work is not an option.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs concept and generate solid models reflecting those concepts.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders balancing technical, schedule, and cost requirements.
• Conduct trade studies to evaluate best design approaches.
• Oversee the generation of engineering drawings using GD&T practices.
• Identify procurement needs and support fabrication.
• Provide assembly checkout and test support.
• Generate task plans and support proposal efforts.
• Occasional domestic travel may be required.
