Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer Level 3/4 to join our Sunnyvale, CA team, supporting launcher hardware installation and manufacturing. The role emphasizes machine design, CAD modeling, and collaboration with internal stakeholders.

The qualified candidate will have a STEM degree with 5+ years (Level 3) or 8+ years (Level 4), experience in NX/CREO/SolidWorks, and the ability to obtain a US Secret Clearance. US citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in a STEM field with 5+ years of relevant experience (Level 3) or a Master’s degree with 3+ years.
• Experience in machine design and drawing generation.
• US citizenship and ability to obtain a US Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs concept and generate solid models.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders balancing technical, schedule, and cost requirements.
• Conduct trade studies to select and evaluate best design approaches to fulfill requirements.
• Oversee the generation of engineering drawings using common GD&T practices.
• Identify procurement needs and support fabrication.
• Provide assembly checkout and test support.
• Generate task plans and support proposal efforts.
• Occasional domestic travel may be required.
• Drive issue resolutions both onsite and with vendors.
