Job summary

RTX, including Pratt & Whitney, seeks an experienced Senior Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to support Mechanical Systems hardware development for Operational Military Engine and Advanced Engine Programs. The role provides technical leadership and SME guidance across design, analysis, manufacturing, and validation from concept to part release to meet program milestones.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering with 10 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 7 years.
• Experience leading mechanical design across hardware development, analysis, manufacturing, and validation.

Responsibilities

• Develop technically sound mechanical design solutions that meet program requirements for cost, weight, performance, quality, and schedule across operational and advanced engine configurations.
• Provide subject matter expertise and design guidance for Mechanical Systems hardware, including bearing compartment systems, ensuring integration with surrounding systems and compliance with technical requirements.
• Collaborate with Design Integrators, Design Discipline Managers, CIPT members, analytical teams, Industrial, and validation partners to coordinate workflows, resolve design challenges, and meet program milestones.
• Guide engineers through design elements of the Class 1 Engineering Changes process for applicable OME tasks and communicate program status, risks, and performance metrics to team leadership and management.
• Apply engineering standard work, CORE tools, and Agile methodologies to improve design processes, prioritize team workflows, coordinate design space and requirements with internal and external stakeholders, and drive tasks to completion.
