Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Mechanical Construction Technical Services Specialist Lead for a Corpus Christi, TX project. You will lead on-site technical interpretation of drawings and specifications, coordinate with home office and client representatives, and drive document control and change management in a multi-discipline data center environment.

You will oversee technical issues, lead permitting activities with AHJs, and mentor a team while collaborating with design-build contractors and field

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience in Mechanical engineering or 15-20 years in construction management for heavy-industrial facilities.
• Understanding of construction-oriented means, methods, codes, and standards.
• Experience interpreting home office engineering documents for construction purposes.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience, including certified technical training.
• Effective oral and written communication.
• Ability to read and understand mechanical engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and guidance in resolving in-progress issues, discrepancies, or disputes related to technical interpretation of drawings and specifications; clarifying and expediting response to meet project needs.
• Liaise with home office engineering, outside engineering firms, and client representatives.
• Provide on-site technical support in interpretation of engineering released documents, specifications, and drawings, including input to the change management process.
• Engage in the Permitting process and with AHJs.
• Work with Design-Build contractors once their efforts move to the field.
• Communicate with subcontractors to manage drawings and documents in revision-controlled manner.
• Lead the construction document management process.
• Provide oversight and guidance through a construction document control lead.
• Respond to specification deviation requests in line with the project deviation process.
• Collaborate with Field Quality, contractor, and Home Office Engineering to resolve NCRs.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the team.
