Job summary

Jacobs in Corpus Christi, TX is seeking a Mechanical Construction Technical Services Specialist Lead to join our world-class data center projects. You will provide leadership for resolving in-progress issues, interpreting drawings and specs, and coordinating with home office and client representatives.

The role emphasizes on-site technical support, change management input, and document control leadership, with mentoring responsibilities for the project team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience in Mechanical engineering or 15–20 years in construction management for heavy-industrial facilities including life sciences and datacenters.
• Understanding of construction means, methods, codes, and standards.
• Experience interpreting home office engineering documents for construction purposes.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience, including certified technical training.
• Effective oral and written communication.
• Ability to read and understand Mechanical engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and guidance in resolving in-progress issues related to technical interpretation of drawings and specifications; clarifying and, when required, expediting home office/responsible engineer responses.
• Ensure liaising with home office engineering, outside engineering firms, and client representatives.
• Provide on-site technical support interpreting engineering documents and input to change management.
• Engage in the Permitting process and with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
• Work with Design-Build contractors once their efforts move to the field.
• Effectively communicate with subcontractors leading to receipt and management of all key drawings and documents in a revision-controlled manner.
• Lead the construction document management process and document control lead.
• Provide oversight and guidance through a construction document control lead.
• Lead response to contractor or other party requests for specification deviation within approved processes.
• Work with Field Quality, contractor, and Home Office Engineering to resolve Nonconformities (NCRs).
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to your team toward meeting these objectives.
