Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, MD is seeking a Mission Engineer to perform development of national security space missions and systems-of-systems modeling in a digital engineering environment using MBSE.

You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, create SysML-based models, support multiple programs, and provide MBSE expertise to the engineering team, with occasional travel up to 10% and eligibility for government clearances.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, statistics, or related discipline.
• 5+ years of professional experience in systems engineering, space systems, national security architectures, and/or MBSE practices and techniques
• Experience with MBSE modeling tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody, or SPARX EA
• Demonstrated experience defining and refining space architectures
• Strong analytical, verbal, written, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills
• Ability to travel up to 10% as needed
• Hold an active Top Secret security clearance and can obtain TS/SCI; U.S. citizenship required

Responsibilities

• Develop and utilize system models for design and implementation of complex systems and systems-of-systems critical to the warfighter.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to develop engineering models for informing decision makers, simplifying design and test, and understanding system performance.
• Create and maintain descriptive SysML-based system models using MBSE methods and tools.
• Support or lead efforts on multiple programs and solicit stakeholder needs for mission engineering and architecture implementation.
• Provide mission engineering and MBSE expertise to the engineering team.
