The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking a Systems Engineer and Mission Analyst to lead architectures and digital engineering efforts for DoD C2 systems. You will guide design, evaluate architectures, and perform trade studies using MBSE and simulation tools to support defense capabilities.

Applicants should have 5+ years in DoD systems engineering, strong MBSE/DE experience, and security clearances.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, CS or related field.
  • 5+ years progressive systems engineering in complex DoD systems (Navy or MDA preferred).
  • Experience with DoDAF, SysML, and UAF.
  • DoD C2 system knowledge (Navy or MDA preferred).
  • 2+ years MBSE and DE approaches guiding design and evaluation.
  • Proficiency with MBSE/DE tools: Cameo, DOORS, Jira, Confluence.
  • Strong verbal and written communication; leadership in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Active security clearance; US citizenship; eligible for TS/SCI.

Responsibilities

  • Lead systems and digital engineering efforts translating needs into mission architectures and requirements.
  • Be part of the Trusted Agent/Technical Direction Agent team providing analytical assessments.
  • Lead MBSE tool development to design, refine, and evaluate workflows.
  • Apply modeling and simulation to analyze sensor, data fusion, comms and weapon systems.
  • Deliver results with recommendations to sponsors and stakeholders.
