Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced M&P engineer to support crewed space hardware with a focus on material characterization, qualification, and NASA standards. You will own requirement implementation, lead cross-functional teams, and coordinate supplier qualification and testing to ensure mission-ready components.

The role requires 8+ years in M&P, familiarity with NASA standards, and the ability to travel to Blue Origin and supplier sites.

Qualifications

  • MS degree in aerospace, materials, mechanical, manufacturing, chemical engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of M&P engineering experience on a crewed space program.
  • Knowledge of NASA cleanliness, contamination, toxicity, and life support system materials requirements.
  • Familiarity with NASA-STD-6001 and related crew-facing hardware requirements.
  • Experience testing and qualifying components, materials, and processes.
  • Ability to travel to Blue Origin and vendor sites.
  • U.S. citizen or eligible status for work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Provide broad support for aerospace-grade materials and processes across multiple materials.
  • Own material and process requirement implementation and verification for crew-facing hardware.
  • Lead material characterization and qualification efforts for crew-facing hardware.
  • Review production drawings for large assemblies and document reviews to requirements.
  • Sign off M&P releases of drawings for parts and assemblies.
  • Coordinate internal and external M&P efforts including supplier qualification and testing.
  • Develop internal processes to standardize material evaluation and qualification.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional Lunar organization teams.
