Job summary

Markel is seeking a claims professional to resolve personal lines marine bodily injury claims of varying complexity. You will assess coverage, liability, and damages, while coordinating with experts, outside counsel, and underwriters to reach timely resolutions.

The role requires independent decision-making within authority, training others, and travel to mediations, trials, and conferences as needed. US work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• Experience handling personal lines marine bodily injury claims.
• Ability to assess coverage, liability, and damages.
• Proven negotiation and settlement skills with claims lifecycle understanding.

Responsibilities

• Handle moderate to complex exposure marine BI claims end-to-end.
• Review policies to confirm coverage and rights.
• Direct experts and outside counsel, manage litigation when needed.
• Investigate loss facts and document outcomes for stakeholders.
• Set reserves within authority and update managers as needed.
• Coordinate mediations, trials, and conferences when required.
