Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced technology leader to guide a large, multi-discipline team spanning hardware, software, and network design. The role ensures designs meet architectural objectives and deploy successfully into production.

You will mentor staff, champion standardized processes, and drive performance through robust technical solutions, SLAs, and timely delivery. Collaboration with vendors and alignment to SDLC are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, or related field.
• 7–10 years of relevant experience.
• 2+ years of direct people-management experience.
• 3–5+ years of project management experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and leadership to a large team or multiple teams focused on hardware, software, and network technology design and build activities.
• Ensure design and build activities are completed, validated, aligned with architectural objectives and requirements, and successfully deployed into production
• Mentor team members and optimize designs and solutions
• Champion standard processes and procedures
• Troubleshoot development and test environment issues
• Hire, coach, and manage performance and talent for a high-performing team
• Manage vendor partners, provide work direction, delegate, and prioritize work
• Deliver robust technical solutions while maintaining service-level commitments and project timelines
• Oversee project design, configuration, performance, implementation, service delivery, and engineering documentation
• Verify build activities against approved engineering diagrams and redirect activities as necessary
• Oversee handoff of design solutions and confirm testing and validation before final technology releases
• Improve processes, policies, best practices, technical build, implementation, and support processes
• Ensure designs adhere to defined standards and align with service management principles and SDLC methods
• Evaluate, troubleshoot, and lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for development and test environment issues
• Define, track, and measure department performance and metrics; distribute reports, status updates, statistics, and other materials to technology leadership
• Escalate issues and problems to leadership as needed
• Participate in strategic and financial planning
• Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies, present their business value, and maintain broad understanding of business needs and technology domains

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related field, or equivalent relevant work experience
• 7-10 years of relevant experience required
• 7-10+ years of progressive scope, impact, and responsibility working with relevant enterprise technologies, including hands-on and leadership roles
• 3-5+ years of project management experience with a proven track record for delivering projects and driving execution
• Demonstrated experience and success in influencing, leading, and coaching without direct leadership responsibility
• Superior reasoning and troubleshooting skills
• Technical skills vary by domain
• 2+ years of direct people-management experience, including performance management
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including translating technical information to non-technical audiences and vice versa
• Experience working in a multi-vendor (outsourced) environment
• Ability to negotiate or persuade others in complex situations
