Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Sr Manager of Payroll Operations to lead payroll compliance across 175+ CBAs, union contracts, and related 3rd party payments. The role oversees configuration testing in Workday and ensures data accuracy, controls, and process improvements.

A strong background in US GAAP, SOX, and pension deductions is essential. The position is hybrid at Republic Services’ Phoenix, AZ headquarters, requiring 4 days onsite and 1 day remote.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of US GAAP and SOX controls related to payroll processes.
• Experience interpreting CBAs and applying pension, health and welfare rules to payroll.
• Familiarity with FLSA and Regular Rate of Pay; state/local payroll laws.
• Ability to lead a team, set strategic goals and develop staff.

Responsibilities

• Oversees payroll compliance related to union contracts and 3rd party payments.
• Manages testing of configuration changes in Workday Time/Absence and Payroll.
• Drives process improvements and enhances payroll controls and data management.
• Collaborates with HR, Total Rewards, HRIS, and cross-functional payroll teams.
• Leads quarterly team meetings and oversees training and development.
• Oversees wage, tax, union deductions, benefits, garnishments, and related payments.
• Ensures alignment of payroll goals with broader company strategy.
