Job summary

Withum’s Tax Services Group is a team of tax professionals guiding engagements from planning to completion. This Senior Tax Manager role will be based across California offices and will lead high-net-worth, fiduciary, gift, and estate tax engagements while mentoring staff and building client relationships.

You will design tax strategies, oversee research, ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, and collaborate with partners on business development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with CPA/JD/LLM/MST certifications preferred.
• 8+ years of professional services experience required.
• Experience leading tax engagements for high-net-worth individuals and tech founders is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead the review of complex high-net-worth individual, fiduciary, gift and estate tax returns with focus on accuracy and strategy.
• Conduct advanced tax research and draft technical memoranda on complex issues.
• Design and implement tax planning strategies for wealth preservation and growth.
• Manage client relationships with proactive communication and strategic counsel.
• Mentor and supervise staff, building a collaborative, high-performing team.
• Collaborate with partners on client engagements, thought leadership, and business development initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with evolving federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Drive process improvements and leverage technology to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Contribute to firm-wide initiatives and continued education to support an inclusive culture.
