Job summary

RTX in Cedar Rapids, IA seeks a Senior Manager, General Engineering to lead avionics software development from requirements to certification. You will manage a team of engineers, ensure process compliance, and coordinate with customers across multiple sites, including international collaboration when needed.

The role requires 10 years in aerospace software or 7+ with a master's, DO-178C certification experience, and strong leadership in real-time embedded C/C++ environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in CS/CE/EE with 10 years of progressive software experience in Aerospace/Defense.
• 4+ years of DO-178C certification experience.
• 4+ years of experience in avionics software life-cycle activities and real-time embedded development in C/C++.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage software development activities from requirements through test and certification.
• Lead a team of engineers in avionics including design, test and certification.
• Ensure program performance and tactical execution of day-to-day operations.
• Ensure compliance with development processes and standard work requirements.
• Assign resources and onboard/train new team members; provide technical coaching.
• Approve work scope for assigned portion of the program.
• Serve as the primary engineering focal point to customers.
• Address employee performance and development issues.
• Identify staff, facilities and equipment needed for projects.
• Supervise 16 reports including Senior/Principal engineers and co-op staff.
