Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company in Morristown, NJ seeks a Major Case Specialist to investigate, evaluate, reserve, negotiate, and resolve the most complex injury and property damage claims with appropriate authority. You will serve as a technical resource for claim professionals and partners, with eligibility for a sign-on bonus.

The role requires deep claims expertise, active adjuster license, and strong communication with internal teams and external stakeholders. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Five plus years of complex bodily injury and litigation experience.
• Active adjuster license, where required by state law.
• Experience with claims management and estimating software; proficient in MS Office and enterprise systems.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey complex information clearly to multiple stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions and handle complex claims and negotiate settlements.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage an active caseload from first notice through resolution within authority.
• Conduct detailed investigations to gather evidence, assess liability and determine damages and reserves.
• Evaluate claim information to decide on coverage and resolutions.
• Negotiate with claimants, legal representatives, and other parties for fair outcomes.
• Develop advanced resolution strategies and coordinate internal and external resources.
• Prepare and present detailed claims status reports to senior management.
• Work with legal, underwriting and other departments to ensure coordinated handling.
• Partner with Counsel on litigation management strategies.
• Maintain comprehensive records of all claim activities and communications.
• Identify opportunities to improve best practices and implement solutions.
• Adapt to new technology and AI tool rollouts while maintaining productivity.
