Job summary

Travelers Insurance seeks a Major Case Specialist in Hunt Valley, MD to handle complex toxic tort, latent injury, environmental and excess claims with high financial exposure. You will analyze coverage, research policy history, and apply sophisticated litigation knowledge across jurisdictions.

With guidance, you will manage high-stakes accounts, mentor colleagues, and collaborate with counsel to resolve matters efficiently while upholding Travelers’ standards and timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience in claims or legal field.
• 4+ years in environmental claim and coverage determination or 4 years of bodily injury/Property damage claim handling plus 3 years SRG experience.
• License(s) may be required to comply with state Travelers requirements.
• Experience handling toxic tort, latent injury, environmental claims and complex liability litigation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct coverage analysis for high-value claims and advise on policy language and exclusions.
• Investigate and analyze liability, assess damages, and advise on loss reserves.
• Lead or support litigation management, including counsel selection and settlement strategies.
• Manage accounts and coordinate with partners to ensure consistency in action and reporting.
• Perform financial analysis and budgeting for large exposure claims.
• Mentor and coach junior staff; share knowledge across teams.
• Maintain well-documented claim files and SRG system updates.
• Lead special projects and drive efficient resolution of complex claims.
