Job summary

Ingersoll Rand in Chicago, IL seeks a Senior Maintenance Technician responsible for high-level mechanical, electrical, and thermal maintenance of rubber molding equipment. You will minimize downtime, diagnose complex failures, and mentor junior technicians in a heavy industrial setting.

Candidate must have hands-on experience with high-pressure hydraulic presses, automated control systems, and read hydraulic/electrical schematics.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industrial plant maintenance experience.
• 2+ years in rubber molding, plastic injection molding, or heavy industrial manufacturing.
• Technical trade school degree, vocational certification, or formal mechanical/electrical apprenticeship preferred.
• Intermediate MS Word and Excel skills.
• Experience troubleshooting Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs.
• Ability to read hydraulic schematics, electrical diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
• LOTO training verified; forklift/aerial lift/overhead crane certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, overhaul, and repair high-pressure hydraulic molding presses and related components.
• Diagnose inputs/outputs, VFDs, sensors, relays, and PLC systems up to 480V.
• Read, interpret, and troubleshoot PLC ladder logic.
• Inspect and repair steam boiler lines, electric heating platens, and cooling circuits.
• Lead major machinery overhauls including bearings, gearboxes, drive shafts.
• Perform heavy rigging to relocate or realign molding presses.
• Execute preventive and predictive maintenance using CMMS.
• Audit parts inventory and maintain maintenance records.
• Lead emergency troubleshooting during production downtime.
• Assign daily work orders and mentor junior technicians.
• Adhere to LOTO, NFPA 70E, OSHA safety procedures.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment.
