Principal Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Specialist (Hydraulic Presses)Site: Chicago, IL (Onsite) | Hours: Day Shift, 4:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. | Status: Full-Time, Direct HireYour missionWhen a critical press goes down, production stops. You’re the seasoned expert who stabilizes the line fast—blending mechanical savvy with controls acumen and calm leadership. You’ll safeguard uptime across rubber molding assets while elevating the next generation of maintenance technicians.Impact you’ll makeRestore and optimize multi-stage high-pressure hydraulic molding presses—service accumulators, cylinders, directional valves, and proportional pumps.Own the controls layer: isolate faults in I/O, VFDs, sensors, relays, and PLC systems up to 480V; read and troubleshoot PLC ladder logic.Keep heat and utilities stable: maintain steam boiler lines, electric heating platens, temperature controllers, hot oil heating units, and cooling water tower circuits.Lead big rebuilds—replace large bearings, gearboxes, drive shafts, and automated transport mechanisms; plan and execute safe heavy rigging to relocate or realign equipment.Advance reliability: execute and refine preventive/predictive maintenance through CMMS; document thoroughly and drive continuous improvement.Manage spares and records; serve as the point person for emergency troubleshooting during live production events.Direct daily work orders, track progress, and mentor junior technicians.Model safety excellence—LOTO, NFPA 70E, OSHA—and maintain a clean, orderly workspace. Perform additional duties as assigned.What sets you apart5+ years of industrial maintenance, including 2+ years in rubber molding, plastic injection molding, or heavy industrial manufacturing.Trade school, vocational credential, or formal mechanical/electrical apprenticeship preferred.Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC troubleshooting experience.Can interpret hydraulic schematics, electrical wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and pneumatic layouts.Verified LOTO training; forklift, aerial lift, and overhead crane certifications preferred.Comfortable with digital multimeters, insulation testers, hydraulic pressure gauges, precision micrometers, welding equipment, and heavy rigging tools.Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.How you leadExceptional troubleshooting across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and PLC domains.Clear communicator who mentors effectively and performs under pressure.Analytical, detail-oriented, and relentless about safety and documentation.Thrives in a fast-paced, manufacturing setting with a continuous improvement mindset.Physical demands & conditionsRoutinely lift up to 75 pounds.Climb ladders, work at heights, access confined spaces, and stand or walk on concrete floors for 8–12-hour shifts.Work around elevated temperatures, steam systems, chemical odors, and high noise while wearing required PPE.Onsite commitment & compensationFully site-based in Chicago, IL with no anticipated travel.Hourly rate: $40.00–$45.00, full-time hourly, plus a comprehensive benefits package including medical/Rx, dental, vision, wellness programs, life insurance, a robust 401(k), paid time off, and an employee stock grant.Why Ingersoll RandIngersoll Rand Inc.
