Job summary

Mativ in Pittsfield, MA is seeking a dynamic, experienced Maintenance Manager to lead the team responsible for maintenance and reliability across the site. You will oversee safety, asset performance, planning, budgeting, contractor management, spare parts, and regulatory compliance to maximize equipment availability and minimize lifecycle costs.

This onsite role requires strong leadership, scheduling, and data-driven decision making, with collaboration across Operations, Engineering, Quality,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in maintenance, reliability, or engineering within industrial manufacturing.
• Experience leading maintenance teams and managing internal resources, contractors, and vendors.
• Experience managing repair and maintenance budgets, capital projects, and asset improvement initiatives.
• Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA requirements and strong safety leadership.
• Lean Manufacturing background; Six Sigma or Green Belt certification is a plus.
• Proven leadership, customer service, project management, and team development capability.
• Ability to support after-hours emergencies and planned shutdowns as business needs require.

Responsibilities

• Lead all maintenance activities in accordance with company procedures and applicable safety requirements, cultivating a proactive safety culture.
• Coach, develop, and hold maintenance staff accountable for safety, technical capability, quality, responsiveness, and results.
• Ensure rapid response to critical equipment failures and emergencies, including after-hours on-call coverage.
• Establish and sustain preventive and predictive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend asset life.
• Develop and manage annual repair and maintenance budgets as part of the planning process; monitor spending and variances.
• Lead capital projects from scope to closeout, ensuring safety, timeliness, and budget adherence.
• Manage vendors/contractors to ensure safe, compliant, cost-effective delivery.
• Drive reliability improvements through data analysis, KPI tracking, and root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with Operations to improve equipment availability and coordinate production priorities.
• Maintain documentation and regulatory compliance for maintenance activities.
