Job summary

M&T Bank in the United States is seeking a Systems Programmer III – Mainframe Networking to design, implement, and support IBM z/OS networking infrastructure critical for banking applications and regulatory reporting.

The role requires expert knowledge of VTAM, TCP/IP, TLS/AT-TLS, SFTP/FTP, DNS, z/OSMF, SMP/E, and Connect:Direct, with experience in CICS, DB2, MQ, and JES2. You will lead projects, mentor staff, and ensure 24/7 availability and security compliance.

Qualifications

Experience with z/OS mainframe networking and middleware components (CICS, DB2, MQ).
Expert knowledge of VTAM, TCP/IP, FTP/SFTP, TLS/AT-TLS, OSA-Express, TN3270 Services, DNS, Enterprise Extender, and Connect:Direct (NDM).
Ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot mainframe networking software and interfaces.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, administer, and support IBM z/OS mainframe networking infrastructure.
Serve as senior technical expert for mainframe communications across enterprise networks.
Lead capacity planning, performance tuning, and security/compliance efforts.
