Job summary
M&T Bank is seeking a Senior Mainframe Software Engineer to support the enhancement, maintenance, modernization, and production support of mission-critical mainframe applications. This role designs, develops, tests, and implements changes using IBM mainframe technologies, serving as a key contributor on complex initiatives.

Qualifications
- Experience with IBM mainframe technologies and production support.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery and DevOps practices.
- Ability to analyze complex systems and guide engineering efforts.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, develop, test, deploy, and support mainframe applications.
- Prepare user stories, acceptance criteria, and test plans for Agile delivery.
- Evaluate dependencies across programs, interfaces, vendors, and business processes.
- Provide analytical guidance to identify effective technology solutions.
- Follow development standards, Agile and DevOps practices, and change controls.
- Deploy mainframe components through automated pipelines and perform root cause analysis.
- Coordinate tasks and communicate status with partners, teams, and vendors.
- Mentor engineers and share knowledge to strengthen the team.
- Participate in on-call/production support to ensure availability and stability.
- Maintain understanding of business processes and uphold brand values.
