Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Mainframe MQ Developer with 7+ years of experience in IBM MQ, mainframe technologies, and Healthcare Claims processing. Lead design, development, and optimization of MQ-based messaging solutions and Claims applications across onshore/offshore teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience with IBM MQ and mainframe technologies.
• Experience with Healthcare Claims Adjudication processes and related business workflows.
• Strong knowledge of code migration and release management practices.
• Experience creating and promoting code across Development, Test, QA and Production.
• Familiarity with post-deployment validation and backout procedures.
• Excellent debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration with offshore/onshore teams.
• Experience working in Agile environments.

Senior Mainframe MQ Developer

Cognizant is seeking an experienced Senior Mainframe MQ Developer with 7+ years of experience in IBM MQ, mainframe technologies, and Healthcare Claims processing. The ideal candidate will lead the design, development, support, and optimization of MQ-based messaging solutions and Claims applications, ensuring reliable enterprise integration, scalability, and compliance while partnering with onsite and offshore teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement technical solutions for Claims applications by transforming business requirements into scalable, efficient, and compliant mainframe systems.

• Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain mainframe Claims applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and MQ.

• Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, project managers, and support teams to ensure successful project execution.

• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to offshore team members and coordinate onsite-offshore activities.

• Serve as a key point of contact for technical issue resolution.

• Troubleshoot production issues and optimize application performance.

• Conduct code reviews and ensure compliance with established coding standards and best practices.

• Support SIT, UAT, production deployments, and post-implementation activities.

Required Qualifications

• Strong experience with mainframe technologies, including COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and MQ .

• Experience with Healthcare Claims Adjudication processes and related business workflows.

• Strong understanding of code migration and release management processes.

• Experience with package creation and code promotion across Development, Test, QA, and Production environments.

• Knowledge of post-deployment validation and backout procedures.

• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with business stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and offshore development teams.

• Experience working in Agile development environments.

• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between $60,000 and $90,000 , depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
