Job summary

Rocket Software is seeking a Customer Solutions Engineer to lead mainframe modernization initiatives and provide expert technical support in a remote USA setting. The role blends hands-on delivery with team leadership to ensure successful digital transformation for customers.

You will leverage COBOL/CICS/DB2 expertise, participate in architecture decisions, and drive DevOps–style practices while maintaining clear, proactive communication with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of relevant technical experience.
• Excellent communication / customer service skills / confident telephone manner.
• Proactive and able to work under pressure.
• Experience in complex IT project implementations, customizations and or maintenance.
• Analytical mindset to analyse test results and facilitate defect resolution.
• Organized and methodical, dealing with numerous tasks.
• Fluent in written and verbal English.

Responsibilities

• Provide services to customers (75%).
• Lead a team and communicate project status and risks to stakeholders.
• Contribute to design for specific deliverables and assist in deployment of Rocket products.
• Create proofs of concept / value analyses and pilots.
• Conduct technical presentations/trainings to peer groups.
• Coordinate with PM on technical communication, scope changes, and resource planning.
• Estimate new requirements and participate in code reviews.
