Job summary

CVS Health seeks a Senior Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) to support and optimize enterprise Db2 for z/OS and IDMS databases. You will lead performance tuning, backup/recovery, disaster recovery readiness, and automation initiatives across critical healthcare platforms.

The role collaborates with development, infrastructure, and support teams to improve database reliability, scalability, and security, with on-call rotation and audit support as required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on Db2 for z/OS DBA experience including design, maintenance, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and production support.
• 3+ years using Db2 administration tools (e.g., OMEGAMON) and Db2 utilities like LOAD, UNLOAD, RUNSTATS, REORG, COPY, RECOVER, SPUFI.
• 3+ years of advanced SQL performance tuning, access path analysis, and index management in Db2 z/OS environments.
• 3+ years of experience with JCL development, DBA job scheduling, and 24x7 production on-call support.

Responsibilities

• Administer Db2 z/OS and IDMS databases across production and non-production environments.
• Tune SQL, analyze access paths, and recommend indexes; monitor resource usage.
• Develop automation to improve database administration and legacy support.
• Manage backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery processes; participate in DR testing.
• Support Db2 upgrades, migrations, and function level changes; respond to incidents and change requests.
• Provide technical consultation and knowledge transfer to development and support teams.
