Job summary

CVS Health in Des Moines is seeking a Senior Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator to support, optimize, and automate enterprise Db2 for z/OS and IDMS environments. The role focuses on performance tuning, backups, DR readiness, and automation across critical healthcare platforms.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with development, infrastructure, and support teams to improve database reliability, support upgrades and migrations, and ensure high availability in a 24x7 on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on Db2 for z/OS DBA experience including design, maintenance and production support.
• 3+ years with Db2 Administration Tools, Query Monitor, OMEGAMON and Db2 utilities such as LOAD, UNLOAD, RUNSTATS, REORG, COPY, RECOVER, SPUFI.
• 3+ years of advanced SQL performance tuning, access path analysis, query optimization, and index management in Db2 z/OS environments.
• 3+ years of JCL development and 24x7 production on-call support in large mainframe environments.
• 1+ year designing or supporting database replication in enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

• Administer Db2 z/OS and IDMS databases across production and non-production environments.
• Tune SQL performance, analyze access paths, recommend indexes, RUNSTATS, REORG, and optimize resources.
• Develop automation to improve DBA processes and legacy support.
• Manage backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery processes including testing.
• Support Db2 function level upgrades, migrations, and utilities execution.
• Respond to production incidents and change requests with 24x7 on-call rotation.
• Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to development and operations teams.
