Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) to support and optimize Db2 for z/OS and IDMS databases in production and non‑production environments. You will lead performance tuning, backup/recovery, and automation initiatives across critical healthcare platforms.

The role requires strong Db2 z/OS expertise, SQL performance tuning, JCL, and experience with large mainframe systems.

Qualifications

5+ years of hands-on experience as a Db2 for z/OS DBA, including design, maintenance, and production support.
3+ years with Db2 administration tools, Query Monitor, OMEGAMON, and Db2 utilities (LOAD, UNLOAD, RUNSTATS, REORG, COPY, RECOVER, SPUFI).
3+ years of advanced SQL performance tuning, access path analysis, and index management in Db2 z/OS environments.
3+ years of JCL development, DBA scheduling, and 24x7 on-call production support in mainframe environments.
1+ year designing or supporting database replication in complex enterprise systems.

Responsibilities

Administer Db2 z/OS and IDMS databases across production and non-production environments, including migrations.
Optimize performance using SQL tuning, index recommendations, RUNSTATS, and REORG.
Develop automation to improve database administration and legacy support activities.
Manage backup, recovery, replication, and DR processes with documentation and testing.
Support Db2 upgrades, version migrations, RSU maintenance, and utility execution.
Respond to support requests and incidents while on a 24x7 on-call rotation.
Provide technical consultation and knowledge transfer to development, infrastructure, and application teams.
