Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) to support enterprise Db2 for z/OS and IDMS environments. You will optimize performance, automate processes, and ensure high availability for mission-critical systems across multiple teams.

The role requires deep Db2 z/OS expertise, SQL tuning, JCL, and production support with on-call rotations. Bachelor’s degree is required; relocation assistance may apply in a dynamic healthcare tech setting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on Db2 for z/OS DBA experience including design, maintenance, performance tuning, backup/recovery and production support.
• 3+ years with Db2 Administration Tools, Query Monitor, OMEGAMON, and Db2 utilities (LOAD, UNLOAD, RUNSTATS, REORG, COPY, RECOVER, SPUFI).
• 3+ years advanced SQL performance tuning, access path analysis, and index management in Db2 z/OS environments.
• 3+ years JCL development, DBA job scheduling, and 24x7 production on-call support in large mainframe environments.
• 1+ year designing or supporting database replication in enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

• Administer Db2 z/OS and IDMS databases across production and non-production environments, including migrations and releases.
• Tune SQL, analyze access paths, recommend indexes, run RUNSTATS and REORG for performance optimization.
• Develop automation to improve database administration and legacy support processes.
• Manage backups, recoveries, replication, and DR documentation/testing.
• Support Db2 function level upgrades, version migrations, RSU maintenance and utility execution.
• Respond to production incidents and change requests while participating in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
• Provide guidance and knowledge transfer to development, infrastructure, and application teams.
