Job summary

CommScope is seeking an Automation / Controls Engineer with strong machine vision experience to own vision systems on a new production line in Shakopee, MN. The role focuses on end-to-end vision station lifecycle from camera selection to PLC integration, with hands-on responsibilities on production equipment.

You will work onsite on a 12-month contract, collaborating with automation and manufacturing teams to ensure reliable inspection performance and fast startup.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building and integrating real machine-vision inspection systems on production equipment.
• Strong background in automation/controls engineering and machine vision.
• Experience with selecting/configuring cameras, lenses, lighting, sensors, and triggering.

Responsibilities

• Build and commission automated inspection stations for production equipment.
• Select and configure cameras, lenses, lighting, sensors, and triggering.
• Develop and tune 2D/3D inspection applications.
• Work with Keyence and Cognex vision platforms.
• Integrate vision outputs into PLCs, HMIs, and machine controls.
• Support Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, Siemens, or similar control platforms.
• Program pass/fail logic and machine responses based on inspection results.
• Troubleshoot issues involving cameras, lighting, controls, communications, and production equipment.
• Validate inspection repeatability and system performance.
• Support equipment commissioning, debugging, root-cause analysis, and production startup.
• Document system setup, calibration, test methods, and wiring/interfaces.
