Caterpillar is hiring a Sr. Test & Validation Engineer (machine controls) for the Peoria, IL area. The role focuses on planning, executing, and reporting validation activities across multiple machine sub-systems including steering, transmission, braking, and displays.

The candidate will troubleshoot complex electrical issues, configure test hardware, flash software, and validate machine-level software, working with cross-functional teams to ensure robust product improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accredited Engineering or Computer Science or related fields.
• Ability to investigate machine software and controls related issues with root cause analysis.
• Experience using diagnostic tools and understanding CAN/Ethernet networks.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and report results from electronic/electrical system development and validation tasks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and electronic system issues on heavy equipment.
• Install, configure, and remove test hardware while supporting machine software development activities.
• Flash software and perform machine-level software validation and verification testing.
• Document validation activities and test outcomes using established engineering standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional product teams leveraging expertise in control systems and wiring modifications.
