Caterpillar’s Earthmoving Division is seeking a Controls Test and Validation Engineer (machine development) to validate Advanced Technology features on various earthmoving product lines. The role is 2nd shift at the Peoria Proving Ground in Washington, IL, requiring hands-on validation activities on machines.

You will lead validation at the machine, system, and component levels, ensuring end-user quality expectations are met and collaborating across cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to manage projects and meet milestones.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities in manufacturing or product development.
• Ability to make informed decisions and guide teams.
• Demonstrated technical excellence in applied engineering domains.

Responsibilities

• Direct communication with internal customers to gather validation requirements.
• Develop validation methods and improve testing procedures for reliability and cost-effectiveness.
• Document and communicate validation issues to internal customers.
• Manage validation deliverables and ensure milestones are met on schedule.
• Resolve design issues to support manufacturing readiness and design acceptance.
• Adopt new technologies to improve efficiency and quality (automation, robotics, CAM software).
• Monitor results, machine capabilities, and process performance.
• Collaborate across the organization to ensure end-to-end validation.
