Caterpillar is seeking a highly skilled Control Systems Engineer to join the Drivetrain Controls System Simulation and Validation team. You will develop and validate software for powershift transmission controls, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver production-ready solutions for current and future machines.

The role demands strong systems thinking, embedded software quality focus, and the ability to execute complex validation across simulation, bench, and machine environments.

Qualifications

• Analytical thinking to determine root cause and tradeoffs in software, controls, and system integration.
• Clear decision making to assess risk, prioritize work, and recommend actions across development and validation.
• Strong communication to convey validation results, risks, and project status cross-functionally.
• Experience with developing, simulating, and validating embedded controls and mechatronic systems.
• Ability to build and execute robust validation plans ensuring product quality and readiness.
• Troubleshooting approaches to detect and resolve software, controls, and integration issues.

Responsibilities

• Execute NTI software development activities for drivetrain controls design and validation.
• Develop and integrate drivetrain control solutions for transmissions, torque converters, actuators, sensors, and embedded software.
• Define verification strategies, test plans, and data review approaches across simulation, bench, and machine environments.
• Support technology transformation projects to modernize controls and software workflows.
• Apply systems engineering to balance performance, durability, maintainability, and cost.
• Collaborate with global teams for design reviews, software releases, and integration activities.
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, controls, software, and validation teams for seamless integration.
• Perform data analysis and root-cause investigations to drive corrective actions during development and validation.
• Follow standard work and continuous improvement to strengthen drivetrain mechatronics development.
