Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior Configuration Engineer to drive the next-gen MK1 Cargo Lander architecture and own the current configuration baseline. You’ll lead cross-functional reviews across Structures, Fluids, Thermal, GN&C, Avionics, and Manufacturing to ensure coherent design and traceability.

You’ll mentor engineers, champion CM best practices, and balance long-term architecture with near-term manufacturing realities on a flying vehicle program. Merritt Island, FL.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in engineering with 8+ years (MS) or 10+ years (BS) in spacecraft or launch vehicle mechanical design and configuration.
• Deep knowledge in at least one of: structural design, mechanical systems, or cryogenic upper stage design.
• Experience leading architecture- or vehicle-level trade studies and cross-functional influence.
• Strong configuration control experience across aerospace programs from concept to flight.
• Ability to balance long-term architecture with near-term configuration discipline.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-disciplinary trade studies to evolve MK1 Cargo Lander architecture.
• Develop a long-term improvement roadmap and assess new tech for integration.
• Maintain configuration baseline, manage ECRs, and ensure traceability.
• Define interfaces between subsystems and resolve cross-subsystem conflicts.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship across engineering teams.
