Blue Origin in Washington state is seeking an experienced professional to join the Lunar Permanence Mission Operations team. You will lead, perform, and coordinate safety analyses to identify hazards, causes, controls, mitigations, and risk characterization for lunar spaceflight and ground systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems, or a related Engineering field.
• 6+ years of system safety or systems engineering experience with requirements traceability and validation.
• Experience performing safety analyses on safety-critical systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate safety analysis across diverse engineering teams.
• Knowledge of spacecraft system and subsystem functionality.
• Safety-minded with initiative to improve systems, processes, and documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and maintenance of FHAs, FMECAs, and FTAs for Mission Operations.
• Develop and support Hazard Reports and refining operational content.
• Plan and coordinate safety analyses, providing guidance on safety products.
• Collaborate with Human Integration to define operational controls.
• Work with Safety to address hazards that cannot be mitigated by design.
• Ensure safety controls are implemented into procedures, displays, and data files.
• Collaborate with ground and flight software teams on safety-related updates.
• Recommend design improvements and operational techniques for lunar operations.
• Support verification and validation of safety and reliability requirements.
• Support mission operations during lunar flights, possibly outside normal hours.
