Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Mission Operations Safety Specialist to lead safety analyses for lunar operations. You will develop and maintain FHAs, FMECAs, and FTAs, and work with cross-functional teams to implement robust safety controls across mission systems.

You will coordinate hazard reporting, support verification of safety requirements, and contribute to a culture of safety and quality in human spaceflight.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of system safety or systems engineering experience
• Ability to lead and coordinate safety analysis across diverse teams
• Experience performing safety analyses on safety critical systems
• Knowledge of spacecraft system and subsystem functionality
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Lead development and maintenance of FHAs, FMECAs, and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).
• Develop and support Hazard Reports with operational content.
• Coordinate safety analysis activities and provide guidance on safety artifacts.
• Collaborate with Human Integration to define operational controls mitigating findings.
• Work with Safety to implement controls when hazards cannot be mitigated by design.
• Ensure safety controls are integrated into mission operations products and tools.
• Coordinate updates with ground and flight software teams to improve safety and efficiency.
• Support verification and validation of safety and reliability requirements.
• Assist mission operations during lunar vehicle flights, including possible after-hours work.
