Job summary

Blue Origin LLC seeks an experienced Senior Safety Engineer to lead mission operations safety analyses for lunar spaceflight programs. You will drive FHA/FMEA/FTA work, develop hazard analyses, and coordinate across engineering teams to ensure robust operational safety for lunar missions.

The role emphasizes strong communication, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and readiness for occasional overtime during mission-critical periods.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems, or related Engineering field.
• 6+ years of system safety or systems engineering experience.
• Experience performing safety analyses on safety critical systems.
• Ability to lead and coordinate safety analysis products across stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and maintenance of FHAs, FMECAs, and FTA for Mission Operations/Systems.
• Develop and support Hazard Reports and refine operational content.
• Coordinate safety analysis plans and provide guidance across teams.
• Collaborate with Human Integration to develop operational controls for safety findings.
• Work with Safety to implement controls when hazards cannot be mitigated by design.
• Ensure safety controls are integrated into operational products, procedures, and data files.
• Recommend safety-related updates with ground and flight software teams.
• Suggest design improvements and operational techniques for lunar spacecraft operations.
• Support verification and validation of safety and reliability requirements.
• Support mission operations during lunar vehicle flights, possibly outside normal hours.
