Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Mission Operations Safety Engineer to lead FHAs, FMECAs, and FTA efforts for lunar operations. You will develop and refine Hazard Reports, collaborate with safety partners, and ensure rigorous verification of safety requirements across teams.

You will coordinate safety analyses, work with Human Integration and ground/software teams, and support lunar flights, including occasional after-hours activities, to enable safe, repeatable space operations.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in system safety or systems engineering
• Experience leading safety analysis across stakeholders and teams
• Knowledge of spacecraft system and subsystem functionality

Responsibilities

• Lead development and maintenance of FHAs, FMECAs, and FTA for Mission Operations/Systems
• Develop and support Hazard Reports, refining operational content
• Coordinate completion of Mission Operations safety analysis with guidance across teams
• Work with Human Integration to develop operational controls to mitigate findings
• Collaborate with Safety to implement controls when hazards cannot be mitigated by design
• Ensure safety controls are implemented into operational products and related tools
• Recommend safety updates with ground and flight software teams to improve operations efficiency
• Propose design improvements and operational techniques for lunar spacecraft operations
• Support verification and validation of safety and reliability requirements with traceability
• Assist mission operations during lunar vehicle flights, including possible after-hours work
