Job summary

General Motors seeks a Senior Systems Engineer for Low Voltage Systems to define energy use cases and drive improvements across the vehicle development lifecycle. You will own low voltage functions, set consumption targets, and ensure alignment from requirements to hardware and software interfaces.

You will lead cross‑functional teams, analyze power consumption reductions, and produce detailed system specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
• 5+ years of automotive engineering experience related to embedded controls, requirements development, architecture development, and/or systems engineering.
• Strong ability to process large information flow and provide high-level systems overview.
• Understanding of vehicle electrical architectures, communication protocols, and ECU wakeup strategies.
• Proficiency in writing and comprehending software and hardware requirements and interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Define low voltage energy use cases and set energy consumption targets for components and features.
• Define and own various low voltage system functions through the System Technical Specification.
• Ensure traceability of system requirements to hardware subsystem and ART solution requirements.
• Develop test requirements and ensure test case traceability to requirements and targets.
• Analyze and summarize status to energy consumption targets based on use cases.
• Analyze competitive performance and drive actions to address gaps.
• Lead complex trade‑off decisions, buy‑offs, and escalation of power consumption issues.
• Maintain technical documentation and system specifications with tools such as DNG; track changes in Jira.
