Job summary

General Motors LLC is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer specializing in Low Voltage batteries to lead system engineering from concept through production. The role focuses on ensuring regulatory compliance, reliability, and overall system integrity of LV battery systems within a hybrid work model in Milford, MI.

You will lead development, collaborate with cross-functional teams, perform FMEAs/validation, analyze field data, and define rigorous LV battery interfaces and requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years in systems engineering with focus on automotive battery systems (LV).
• Experience with regulatory compliance processes and standards in automotive electrical systems (ISO 26262, UN ECE R100).
• Proven reliability engineering skills (FMEA, FTA, HALT/HASS).
• Strong battery chemistry knowledge and BMS experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead system engineering for LV battery management systems from concept to production.
• Ensure LV battery systems and software meet regulatory and GM requirements.
• Develop reliability plans including FMEAs, DVPRs, and validation testing.
• Collaborate with design, validation, manufacturing and suppliers to integrate LV battery systems.
• Analyze field data and warranty claims to drive corrective actions and improvements.
• Define and document system requirements, specs, and interface controls for LV batteries.
• Contribute to design reviews and provide guidance on LV battery architecture and performance.
