Job summary

Kaplan Senior Living is seeking a dependable Maintenance Assistant in Massachusetts to help keep the community safe, clean, and welcoming for residents, families, visitors, and staff. You will perform routine maintenance, preventive upkeep, inspections, and general repairs across the building and grounds.

The role involves basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and other repair work, plus responding to maintenance requests and assisting with apartment preparation.

Qualifications

• Experience in building or facilities maintenance preferred.
• Bas ic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting skills required.
• Ability to troubleshoot problems safely and perform routine repairs.
• Ability to read instructions, manuals and safety information.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repair tasks across the community.
• Assist with preventive maintenance for building systems and equipment.
• Carry out basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and general repairs.
• Troubleshoot maintenance issues and determine next steps.
• Inspect resident apartments, common areas, equipment, and systems.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from residents and staff.
• Assist with apartment preparation including repairs and painting.
• Replace light bulbs, fixtures, filters, and hardware as needed.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and storage areas.
• Follow safety procedures and report major repairs or hazards.
