Job summary

Hoosier Village is seeking a Lead Grounds Technician to oversee landscaping and grounds maintenance for a 350-acre senior living campus in Indianapolis. You will design schedules, lead a team of 14+, and ensure safe operation of equipment and compliance with regulations.

The role emphasizes resident service, proactive maintenance, and a collaborative, compassionate work environment within a premier BHI community.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of landscaping and grounds maintenance experience.
• 3–5 years of management experience overseeing a team of 14+ employees.
• Experience with large properties (300+ acres).
• Irrigation system knowledge and maintenance.
• Experience in turf, plant, and tree management.
• Experience with equipment management and safe operation.
• Strong resident/customer service orientation and snow/ice management experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and oversee daily/weekly work schedules for the 350-acre property.
• Set daily crew targets and conduct regular performance reviews.
• Lead training on equipment operation, pruning techniques, and landscaping workflows.
• Perform daily inspections and preventative maintenance on mowers, trucks, and tools.
• Ensure staff operate vehicles and machinery safely in a senior living environment.
• Address hazards and maintain safe walkways and irrigation systems.
• Oversee 24/7 snow, ice and debris response for resident access.
• Manage house resident work orders and landscape requests.
