Job summary

Hoosier Village is a premier senior living community in Indianapolis, Indiana. As the Lead Grounds Technician, you will oversee a 350-acre property and a team of over a dozen staff, ensuring safe, attractive outdoor spaces for residents.

You will design schedules, lead training, and manage irrigation, equipment, and safety protocols while maintaining excellent resident relations. This full-time role emphasizes leadership, hands-on landscaping, and commitment to superior care.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of landscaping and grounds maintenance experience.
• 3–5 years of management experience overseeing 14+ employees.
• Irrigation knowledge is required.
• Turf, plant and tree management experience required.
• Equipment management experience required.
• Resident/customer service experience required.
• Snow and ice management experience required.

Responsibilities

• Design daily and weekly work schedules for a 350-acre property and prioritize high-impact areas.
• Set daily crew targets and conduct regular performance reviews.
• Lead training on equipment operation, pruning techniques, and landscaping workflows.
• Perform daily inspections and maintenance on mowers, trucks, and hand tools.
• Ensure safe operation of vehicles and heavy machinery around residents.
• Inspect the property to address hazards and algae on walkways and ponds.
• Maintain 24/7 response plan for snow, ice, and storm debris removal.
• Ensure safe storage and compliant application of fertilizers and herbicides.
• Monitor and adjust irrigation systems to maintain turf health.
• Manage resident work orders and landscape requests.
