Job summary

Hoosier Village in Indianapolis, IN, is seeking a Lead Grounds Technician to oversee grounds maintenance for a 350-acre campus and lead a team of 14+ staff. You will manage irrigation, equipment operation, pruning, and safety across a senior living community.

This role requires 7–10 years of landscaping experience and 3–5 years of management, with a focus on resident service, weather-related operations, and preventive maintenance to keep our grounds welcoming and safe.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of experience in landscaping and grounds maintenance.
• 3–5 years of management experience, overseeing a team of 14+ employees.
• Irrigation knowledge and turf/plant/tree management required.
• Equipment operation and maintenance experience.
• Strong resident/customer service focus and snow/ice management skills.

Responsibilities

• Design daily/weekly work schedules for a 350-acre property.
• Set crew targets and conduct performance reviews.
• Lead training on equipment operation and landscaping workflows.
• Perform preventive maintenance on mowers, trucks, and hand tools.
• Ensure safe operation of vehicles and machinery in a senior living environment.
• Inspect property for hazards and address issues.
• Maintain 24/7 snow/ice/storm debris response plan.
• Manage irrigation systems and fertilizer/herbicide applications.
• Handle resident work orders and requests.
• Maintain professional resident communications.
