Job summary

Better Living is hiring a Maintenance Director to keep our senior living environment safe, clean, and welcoming for residents and staff. You will perform repairs across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry, conduct safety inspections, and manage logs and inventory.

The role requires 1-2 years of maintenance experience, a high school diploma, and the ability to work independently or with a team. On-site positions with driving between locations, benefits included.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years general maintenance experience; healthcare/long-term care setting preferred.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and building maintenance.
• Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Good communication and customer service, especially in resident-occupied areas.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Must pass criminal background check and TB screening.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.
• Conduct regular inspections of the facility, equipment, and systems to ensure proper operation and safety compliance.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders from staff or leadership.
• Maintain and repair resident rooms, common areas, and grounds.
• Maintain grounds and facility in good repair, ensuring a safe, clean and orderly environment.
• Assist with room preparation for new residents, including painting, flooring, and fixture installations.
• Ensure compliance with life safety codes, OSHA regulations, and infection control protocols.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation as required.
• Monitor and manage supplies and parts inventory.
• Support emergency preparedness systems (e.g., fire alarms, generators, call systems).
• Collaborate with outside vendors and contractors as needed for specialized work.
• Snow removal, landscaping, and seasonal grounds maintenance as needed.
• May travel between multiple locations; be available for on-call as needed.
