Job summary

Responsibilities include creating and updating monthly calendars, coordinating outings and events, and ensuring clear communication with residents. Requires experience in long-term care and eligibility for therapeutic recreation certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years college education with courses in recreation, education, social work or other behavioral sciences.
• Two years’ experience in a social or recreational program within the past five years, with one year in a long-term health care setting.
• Eligible for certification as therapeutic Recreation Specialist or as an Activities professional by a recognized accrediting body.

Responsibilities

• Gathers information to design Recreation programs that meet residents' needs and interests.
• Develops and provides individual and group activities reflecting residents' interests, offered at various hours and locations.
• Maintains monthly activities calendar and informs residents of upcoming events.
• Develops and updates Recreation Services policies and procedures; plans department budget and communicates needs to Administrator.
• Hires and supervises staff to ensure quality Recreation services; conducts performance reviews and actions as needed.
