Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Linux Server Systems Engineer to design, implement, and support Linux-based server infrastructure across physical and virtual environments for the NDOC center in Bethesda. The role emphasizes automation, hardening, and lifecycle management aligned with mission requirements.

The engineer collaborates with cybersecurity, application teams, and infrastructure admins to deliver secure, scalable solutions and to improve resiliency and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with 4+ years of relevant Linux server experience.
• Experience deploying, integrating, and maintaining Linux/UNIX server environments.
• Experience with RHEL, Rocky Linux, Oracle Linux, and/or Ubuntu.
• Experience with Red Hat Satellite Server/Spacewalk for lifecycle, patching, and config management.
• Experience with Ansible, Salt, Puppet, or Chef for automation.
• Scripting experience in Bash and Python; PowerShell/PowerCLI also applicable.
• Experience with server patch management, lifecycle management, and enterprise config-management methodologies.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph or willingness to obtain one, per job requirements.

Responsibilities

• Engineer, integrate, configure, and optimize Linux server solutions across physical and virtual infrastructure.
• Perform systems engineering activities: requirements analysis, design, testing, verification and deployment.
• Develop engineering solutions for modernization, scalability, reliability, and lifecycle management of enterprise Linux infrastructure.
• Analyze issues, identify root causes, and implement improvements for resilience and security.
• Design and implement automation for provisioning, patching, monitoring, and compliance.
• Coordinate with customers and teams to collect requirements and implement solutions.
• Document system designs, procedures, and configurations; support transition to operations.
