Job summary

RTX in the US-MA-Woburn area seeks a Linux Systems Engineer to design, deploy, and harden RHEL environments onsite. You will automate with Ansible, write configuration scripts, and support secure, reliable systems for defense projects.

The role requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain Interim Secret clearance; incumbents will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure scalable, secure infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field and 5 years of experience.
• Hands-on RHEL administration experience.
• Background in OS hardening, security baselines, and compliance frameworks (STIGs, CIS).
• Ability to obtain and maintain Interim Secret U.S. security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain RHEL-based systems in production and development environments.
• Implement OS hardening standards and security controls across Linux systems.
• Develop and maintain automated configuration workflows using Ansible or other IaC/CM tools.
• Write and maintain scripts to support system configuration, monitoring, and operational tasks.
• Apply systems engineering principles to requirements analysis, design documentation, verification, and lifecycle support.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across Linux/Windows hosts, networks, infrastructure services, and applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure system reliability, security, and scalability.
• Participate in technical reviews, architecture discussions, and design planning.
