Job summary

RTX is seeking a Sr. Principal Linux Systems Administrator in Andover, MA to lead secure, cost-efficient Linux IT infrastructure across classified programs. You will guide end-to-end solutions, mentoring a diverse team while aligning with program requirements and DoD standards.

The role requires on-site presence in Andover with potential relocation; candidates must currently hold U.S. citizenship and obtain interim DoD clearance as needed. RTX emphasizes security and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 8+ years experience, or Advanced Degree with 5+ years.
• Advanced experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.
• Experience mentoring individuals and teams.
• Ability to obtain DoDD 8140 / 8570 Certification (Security+ CE) in time.
• Eligibility for interim DoD security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize Red Hat Enterprise Linux infrastructure.
• Serve as senior technical resource to maintain confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
• Partner with Cybersecurity to meet security requirements and provide guidance.
• Mentor junior admins across maintenance, accounts, and performance tuning.
• Lead technical meetings with teams and stakeholders for successful outcomes.
• Develop, document, and enforce system administration processes and best practices.
• Participate in Change Request reviews and Change Management Boards.
• Systems operate 24x7 and may require after-hours work.
• Travel up to 10% to other US locations as needed.
