Job summary

CIQ seeks a Principal Linux Engineer to own Rocky Linux related software, patching and testing userspace packages, and improving tooling in the OS packaging workflow. You will remediate CVEs in RPMs, customize and optimize packages, and build testing for both software and system-wide behavior.

You will collaborate with engineering, open-source communities, and sales to deliver robust solutions. Responsibilities include architecture-level planning, documenting projects for easy integration,

Qualifications

• 4+ years supporting Linux and 2+ years building Linux packages.
• Experience with RPM/DEB packaging and CVE remediation.
• Strong understanding of Linux internals and package interactions.
• Ability to work remotely with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering, product, open-source community, and sales teams to develop relevant solutions.
• Take part in architecture-level discussions, planning, and implementation.
• Document each project to share knowledge and facilitate integration for users.
• Drive proofs of concept and minimum viable products for demonstration.
• Focus on quality by developing automated tests.
• Release quickly with frequent software deployments.
• Leverage source control (GitHub/GitLab) for development while collaborating with internal teams and the open-source community.
• Support multiple services before they go live through design consultations, platform development, capacity planning, and launch reviews.
• Deployment on standard server architectures, virtual machines, and cloud infrastructure.
