Job summary

CBTS is seeking a Linux Vulnerability Remediation Engineer to accelerate patching across server infrastructure (RHEL 7/8/9/10). This remote, full-time role focuses on automation, vulnerability management, and close collaboration with operations, engineering, and support teams to deliver timely fixes while maintaining server stability.

Qualifications

• 6-10 years of hands-on experience with RHEL 7/8/9/10 in enterprise environments.
• Proven experience driving vulnerability remediation and patch management for Linux servers.
• Expertise with Qualys vulnerability scanners, including interpretation of findings and closure verification.
• Automation experience with Chef in production environments.
• Strong scripting skills in Bash and working proficiency in Ruby.
• Understanding of Linux security fundamentals and change-management processes.
• Ability to coordinate across multiple teams and drive remediation to closure.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute end-to-end remediation for vulnerabilities on Linux servers (RHEL 7/8/9/10).
• Triage findings from Qualys and translate them into actionable remediation plans.
• Coordinate kernel and package updates, CIS/STIG-aligned changes, and required reboots.
• Develop and maintain remediation automation using Chef, Bash, and Ruby.
• Validate remediation effectiveness with re-scans and closure verification.
• Provide progress updates and risk status to stakeholders, ensuring SLA adherence.
